Snow emergencies have been declared for both St. Paul and Minneapolis. Parking restrictions begin at 9 pm December 11. Make sure to follow the rules for each city to avoid being ticketed or towed. Find more details below:
Minneapolis
Today, December 11, 2016 is Day 1; 9 pm to 8 am (overnight)
Do not park on either side of the street with the red sign: Snow Emergency Route. Snow plows will clear those streets first.
A snow emergency will be declared no later than 6 p.m. on any given day. At 9 p.m. on that day, Snow Emergency parking rules begin.
Park on either side of non-Snow Emergency routes (these streets DO NOT have the red sign: Snow Emergency Route).
After a street is fully plowed, feel free to park there, even if Snow Emergency parking rules are still in effect. Fully plowed means the street is completely cleared and plowed as wide as possible. Plows may come through more than once, so make sure that it is fully plowed as wide as possible before parking.

Day 2; 8 am to 8 pm
At 8 am, Day Two parking rules begin.
Do not park on the EVEN side of non-Snow Emergency routes. (Example: house address number: 1356 Maple or 2512 17th Ave.)
Do not park on either side of parkways.
Park on the odd side of non-Snow Emergency Route streets (example: house address number 1359 Maple or 2513 17th Ave.).
Park on either side of streets with the red sign: Snow Emergency Route.
After a street is fully plowed, feel free to park there, even if Snow Emergency parking rules are still in effect. Fully plowed means the street is completely cleared and plowed as wide as possible. Plows may come through more than once, so make sure that it is fully plowed as wide as possible before parking.
Day 3; 8 am to 8 pm
At 8 a.m., Day Three parking rules begin.
Do not park on the ODD side of non-Snow Emergency Route streets (example: house address number 1359 or 2513 17th Ave.).
Park on even side of non-Snow Emergency Route streets. (Example: house address number: 1356 Maple or 2512 17th Ave.)
Park on either side of streets marked with the red sign: Snow Emergency Route and you may park on parkways.
After a street is fully plowed, feel free to park there, even if Snow Emergency parking rules are still in effect. Fully plowed means the street is completely cleared and plowed as wide as possible. Plows may come through more than once, so make sure that it is fully plowed as wide as possible before parking.

Crews can only plow the full width of the street if cars are out of the way. Please follow Snow Emergency parking rules or your vehicle will be tagged and/or towed to the Minneapolis Impound Lot.
Also, be sure to shovel your sidewalks and around your garbage cart.
St. Paul
On 12/11/16 beginning at 9 pm, all NIGHT PLOW ROUTES will be plowed. This includes all arterial or main streets posted with signs that say “NIGHT PLOW ROUTE” and one side of all north-south residential streets posted with signs that say “NIGHT PLOW ROUTE-THIS SIDE OF STREET.”
On 12/12/16 beginning at 8 am, all DAY PLOW ROUTES will be plowed. This includes all non-posted east-west residential streets and the non-posted side of north-south residential streets.
Parking is banned until streets are plowed full width. Ticketing and towing will begin at 9 pm the day the snow emergency is declared and continues until parking restrictions are removed.
Look for these signs:
Snow emergencies continue with DAY PLOW ROUTES the morning following the declared snow emergency.
- Plowing starts after night routes are plowed, which is typically around 8 a.m.
- There are NO SIGNS on Day Plow Routes.
- Parking is banned on these routes until the street has been plowed full-width.
- Vehicles which are not moved from Day Plow Routes by 8 a.m. the day after the snow emergency has been declared will be ticketed and towed.
